Most teachers should plan on setting up sub accounts (log ins) for students. A student sub account prevents students from accessing teacher's guides, answer keys and community pages. They also offer more ways for a class of students to access the site. A single log in can cause problems with a large number of students because the log in will lock temporarily for five minutes after five incorrect attempts. Having additional sub accounts (log ins), will allow teachers to seamlessly switch to another log in, if one should lock. We strongly recommend setting up sub accounts! Jody, We recommend that you divide the class into 5 sections, assigning one of the log ins to each section. Each student can log into their own computer or device, but they will be using a log in that others will also use. If one log in should temporarily lock for 5 minutes due to 5 incorrect attempts, simply use another one of the sub accounts, or log ins to get all of your students logged in quickly.
Your students will go to www.edheads.org, look for the green ‘sign in’ box on the right and enter the user name and password you give them. Once they are in the system, they can look for the ‘Games’ pull down menu near the top of the page, just under the ‘clouds.’ Then they can click on the game you want them to play.
Please remember that user names are not case sensitive, but passwords are. Also, student accounts do not have access to teacher's guides, only glossaries.
